iamchange has created a new way for volunteers and athletes to change the world: Team iamchange! Focusing our efforts on regional races and multi-sport events, Team iamchange is connecting volunteers with events and racers with opportunities to raise funds for issues in the developing world.
Team I Am Change Phase 1 – Race Volunteers (LAUNCHING THIS WEEKEND AT CBI TRIATHLON in THE WOODLANDS, TX) -Our first step in raising awareness for IAC and providing support for the multisport community (running, cycling, swimming, etc.) is to gather a strong group of volunteers. Every multisport event needs people to help set up, stuff race packets, service water stations, man the registration tables, pick up trash, and tear down. We can help in this area by providing willing, positive, and hardworking individuals to commit a portion of their day to serve. In return, race production companies and event producers are typically willing to trade “sponsorship” for organizations that provide volunteers. This means that the I Am Change name and logo could potentially be advertised on hundred/thousands of T-shirts, water bottles, race packets and websites. Additionally, most races will allow organizations to set up a booth or tent to market themselves to participating athletes and spectators. It’s a win-win situation for both the race production company or even and the volunteer organization. They get volunteers and we get free marketing – often times, they’ll even donate a portion of their earnings to non-profit volunteer organizations.
Phase 2 – Individual Fundraising (LAUNCHING THIS WEEKEND AT CBI TRIATHLON in THE WOODLANDS, TX) -Multisport training and racing is one of the most popular and effective ways to raise funds for non-profit organizations and/or causes. Take for instance the “Todd Krampitz Foundation.” Runners commit to train for the Houston Marathon while raising funds for blood and organ donor awareness, education and support. In this case, people simply raise a desired amount during the course of their training by asking friends and family to donate online. Some races designate a “tracking goal.” In our case, let’s say Bob has decided to train for the next 5 months for Ironman Florida (a triathlon consisting of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 and running a marathon – all in one day!). For every mile that Bob trains, people are being asked to commit a penny. Though it doesn’t sound like a lot…add up the hundreds of training miles, gather 10-20 supporters, and we’ve helped raise valuable funds for I Am Change. As part of the process, we will provide fundraisers with a sticker and T-shirt. They may also purchase Team IAC running and triathlon competition jerseys to further raise awareness.
