Youth In Civic Action

Objective
The objective of this one-day workshop is to empower young people to actively participate in the electoral process, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage as informed citizens in elections at local, national, and  international levels. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical activities,
participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of youth involvement in democracy and explore strategies to overcome barriers to participation.

#Its Starts With Me Project

Democracy thrives when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered to participate in the political process, however, in many communities, there is a lack of access to quality civic education and voter engagement initiatives.

To address this gap and strengthen democratic participation, we propose the #IT STARTS WITH ME Goal(s):
1. To enhance citizens’ participation in the democratic process.
2. To educate and empower citizens about their civic rights and responsibilities.
3. To mobilize young women and men for community engagement and active
citizenship.
4. Mitigate against misinformation and the spread of hate and inciteful speech.

PROGRAM COMPONENT
1. DEMOCRACY CAMP
Democracy is the cornerstone of modern society, empowering individuals to participate in governance, express their opinions, and shape the future of their communities. However, to uphold and strengthen democracy, it is essential to cultivate
an informed and engaged citizenry from a young age.

Objectives
– The primary objective of the Democracy Camp is to educate and empower teenagers to become active and responsible citizens within their communities.
– Foster an understanding of democratic principles and values.
– Equip teenagers with the knowledge and skills necessary for meaningful civic engagement.
– Provide opportunities for hands-on learning and practical application of democratic processes.
– Cultivate leadership abilities and a sense of social responsibility among participants.
– Promote diversity, inclusivity, and respect for differing viewpoints within a democratic framework.
